About the hike: We’ll take the forested Grand Valley Trail from Woolner Trail to the north end of Ottawa Street and then return through grassy fields using the Walter Bean Trail. It may include a side trail in Natchez Woods. Please note this event is co-hosted with Canadian Company of Pilgrims

He’s been actively hiking for the last couple of years, initially to prepare to walk the Camino de Santiago Route Frances (780 km) in spring 2024. He continues to regularly hike including completing 7 of 9 sections of a Bruce Trail E2E. Where: K.D. Woerner Family Trailway Length: 10 km Category: Loop Pace: Moderate, 3 - 4 km/hr. About 3.5 hours. Hike level: Easy (1). Well marked trails. Half are dirt trails that are likely to be leaf covered with roots and rocks. The other half is a crushed gravel community trail. Some hills on both sections. Parking & Departure: Hike starts at 10:00 AM sharpat the K.D. Woerner Family Trailway parking lot (43.444641, -80.402125). Please arrive at least 5 minutes earlier. If needed, there is additional parking at the end of Woolner Trail, 155 Woolner Trail #141, Kitchener, ON N2A 4N3. Free parking. Directions: Please use your favourite GPS app to obtain directions. What to wear & bring: Be safe from ticks which are likely starting to emerge by wearing long pants and tucking them into your socks. Wear appropriate footwear such as trail runners or hiking boots/shoes. Bring water and snacks. Rain gear might be needed. Walking poles, sunscreen and bug repellant are optional. Sorry, no dogs on GVTA hikes with the exception of certified service dogs. ALL ARE WELCOME ON OUR HIKES. Membership is encouraged as it helps to support our trails, $30 per household.
