About the hike: Barkers Bush is a wooded area along the Nith River in Paris. We will be starting at Wincey Mills (31 Mechanic St in Paris) where there are public washrooms as well as a coffee shop and food options for after the hike. We will walk through Lions Park to the trailhead and proceed into the wooded area along the Nith River. There are hills, mainly just rolling, but we will do a few steeper ones. You need to watch for rocks and roots along the trail.

About the leader: Jane is a new hike leader with GVTA, eager to get out with like-minded people who love to spend time walking in the woods and who would rather be outside than in. She hiked in various areas of the country for years and likes to hear about others’ experiences.

Pace and duration: Moderate, 3-4 km/h. About 1.5 to 2 hours
Hike level: 2 (intermediate). A combination of wide and narrow trail, unpaved once we enter the woods, some hills.
Parking & Departure: The hike will start at 10:00 am sharp, please arrive by 9:45. We will meet in the parking lot behind the Wincey Mill building, 31 Mechanic St, Paris, ON N3L 1K1, (43.192002, -80.385097), Please note: property owners ask that you only park here if you are visiting Wincey Mills. There is free parking up the street in a number of lots on Broadway St W, such as: Paris Public Parking Lot or Public Parking Lot. Please park there.
Directions: Please use your favourite GPS app to obtain directions.
What to wear and bring: Dress for the weather, and wear good hiking shoes. Poles will be helpful for the steeper hills. Bring some water and snacks.
Sorry, no dogs on GVTA hikes with the exception of certified service dogs.
