About the hike: Schneider’s Woods is a new local favourite of ours that we discovered hiking the Avon Trail, which runs through this private property! With its rolling hills and beautiful vistas it is sure to please. Schneider's Woods (also known as Schneider's Bush) is a beautiful, environmentally sensitive natural area of over 230 acres (95 hectares) located in Wilmot Township, Ontario, along the western border of Waterloo. It features a diverse terrain of glacial hills, meadows, wetlands, and mature forests. Long preserved by the Schneider family, the property has been protected as a conservation area through a donation to the rare Charitable Research Reserve.
NOTE about when to hiking is possible in this area and when it is not: Late Spring to Autumn (April 16 – November 29): Open for hiking, trail running, and birding. Winter Season (November 30 – April 15): Cross-country skiing is the ONLY permitted activity.

Our loops will take us through varied forest terrain, including a couple challenging hills to get those healthy hearts pumpin’! Get outside with us, move your body and breathe in some fresh forest air!

*We may hike in thick mud, or wade through ankle deep water, or make unplanned last minute turns to explore the variety of trails in this forest, and we welcome the fun and adventure this brings!
