About the hike: Enjoy an evening hike on this loop using the rare Charitable Research Reserve’s network of trails. The first half of this hike is along the Grand River and some limestone cliffs. Then goes though some woodlands before returning on a portion of the Grand Trunk Trail.

About the Leader: James started hiking to get ready for the Camino de Santiago Route Frances. Since completing it in 2024, he just kept going. An experienced hike leader, he enjoys sharing new and favourite trails that are usually a moderate distance at a moderate pace.

Pace: Moderate, 3 - 4 km/hr. About 2.0 hours.
Hike level: Intermediate (2). Well marked trails with some rocks, roots and other obstacles. Some hills.

Parking & Departure: Hike starts at 7:00 PM sharp from parking lot for the Slit Barn at rare Charitable Research Reserve, 768 Blair Rd, Cambridge, ON (43.381664, -80.357476). Please arrive by 6:45 to be ready to leave on time. Free parking.

Directions: Please use your favourite GPS app to obtain directions.

What to wear & bring: Wear appropriate footwear. Bring water and snacks. Rain gear may be needed. Bug spray, sunscreen are suggested. Walking poles are optional. Be safe from ticks by wearing long pants and tucking them into your socks. 

Sorry, no dogs on GVTA hikes with the exception of certified service dogs.
