Forks of the Credit Provincial Park and Bruce Trail – 18 km

About hike: We will take the Trans-Canada Trail and the Bruce Trail towards the East, loop outside the park through the Grange side road before re-entering the park, using the Cataract side trail to see the waterfall. We will then head back to our starting point. Lots of wooded areas but also some historical artifacts and spectacular views of the Credit River.

Length: 18 km
Category: Loop
Pace and duration: Moderate, 3.5 km/hr. About 6 hours.
Hike level: Moderate/Difficult (2-3); terrain is challenging on occasions. This is a moderately long hike with significant changes in elevation and is not suitable for beginners.

Parking and departure: Departure 9:00 AM, from parking lot of Forks of the Credit Provincial Park (43.825007, -80.004045). The park charges an entry fee per vehicle so please make sure to carpool. Be also sure to book your permit for the park (see  https://www.ontarioparks.com/parksblog/plan-day-trip-forks-credit/#advance-permit).

Those who travel from Kitchener can also carpool – depart 7:30 AM sharp from Victoria Pavilion, Victoria Park, Kitchener (43.445541, -80.499283).

Directions: Please use your favourite GPS app to obtain directions.
 
What to wear and bring: Dress according to weather. Trails can be challenging and rugged at times. Hiking shoes are required (no sneakers please). Pack lots of water (2 L), a lunch and munchies, sunscreen and a hat, rain gear, and optionally bug repellent. We will have lunch by the Credit River around noon.

Sorry, no dogs on GVTA hikes with the exception of certified service dogs.
