Celebrating GVTA's 50th anniversary

This year, the GVTA is celebrating its 50th anniversary representing half a century of maintaining and conserving some 250 kilometres of pedestrian trails in the Grand River watershed. To celebrate this significant milestone,  a number of events and activities are planned throughout the year. Details will be added to this page as they become available. Watch this CTV segment with GVTA President Côté-Kennedy on the 50th anniversary!

June - National Indigenous History Month

National Indigenous Peoples Day takes place on the summer solstice, June 21 and the month of June is designated National Indigenous History Month to recognize the rich and diverse cultures, voices, experiences and histories of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. GVTA is hosting a special hike and commemorative event in Brantford on Saturday, June 25.  More details and registration are here

April - A focus on Earth Day and National Volunteer Week

Continuing our 50th Anniversary Celebrations, this month we honour and shine a light on both Earth Day and National Volunteer Week. With connection to nature and the hard work of GVTA volunteers being two central components of the Grand Valley Trail Association, we take this opportunity to especially acknowledge the amazing work that is done by Trail Maintenance Volunteers! These are the folks who make sure that the GVTA trails are safe and accessible for all to enjoy them! This month, we invite you to take part in a number of work parties that are taking place in different parts of the trail. Check out the list of work parties and sign-up to help!
